Coleraine Safer Towns survey, 1995
This survey was commissioned by a post-primary school in the Coleraine Borough Council area to help develop a drugs education policy. It was designed by the Safer Towns Initiative and carried out by Coleraine Safer Towns staff on 3 May 1995. The questionnaire was completed by 342 young people ranging in age from 11 to 19 years.
Main findings
- 29% of respondents claimed to take drugs of some sort;
- 78% of this group admitted to taking cannabis;
- 33% of those who still take drugs get them from friends;
- 48% of all respondents have, at some time, been offered drugs.
