This survey reported on the use of illicit drugs, alcohol and tobacco among 12-18 year old males in the Craigavon area. It was carried out in local schools and youth centres in February and March 1998.

Main findings

  • 34.6% of the sample reported that they had taken illicit drugs at least once, the most popular being cannabis and solvents.
  • 17.3% of the sample were currently taking drugs, with cannabis and solvents again the most popular. Of this group of current users, nearly a quarter claimed to be using on a daily basis.
