Misuse of illicit drugs among 14-17 year olds from North and West Belfast, 1992
A survey was carried out by the Dunlewey Substance Advice Centre in 1992 in North and West Belfast among 400 young people aged 14-17 years old. It is not a quantitative research survey, but was described by the researchers as an exploratory probe analysis. The sample came from schools, YTP schemes and a youth club in the area.
Main findings
- 44.5% of respondents said they had used illicit drugs;
- 35.5% of respondents reported current use;
- the most popular illicit drugs were cannabis, LSD, Ecstasy and amphetamines.
